What Should Be Included In Surgical Tech Resume

Positions for surgical technicians are very competitive, so it is important to be prepared when entering the job market. A great way to see if a candidate is on the right track is by looking at a resume sample surgical technician. Reviewing a great example will put someone on the right track to putting together a resume that will land them their dream job.

Finding examples of surgical technician resumes is actually quite simple if someone knows where to look. Most colleges and universities have career centers on campus that have samples of resumes for a wide variety of careers. Simply make an appointment to visit a career counselor and review a resume sample surgical technician. They will most likely be willing to make copies of the sample, but it might be a good idea to bring a draft of a resume to do a side by side comparison with the counselor.

There are a few items that should be included on any surgical tech resume, and one of the most important is a clear objective. For example, instead of simply stating that the objective is to be a surgical technician, the resume sample surgical technician should express a specific goal, such as becoming a surgical technician in labor and delivery. This lets a potential employer know that the applicant is goal oriented and has a clear vision of their future career.

A good resume sample surgical technician should also include detailed information about the applicant’s educational background. This means that it is necessary to provide information beyond what school was attended by the prospective employee. The surgical tech resume should list all colleges and universities attended, the program completed, date of completion and, if it is impressive, the applicant’s grade point average.

In addition to educational background, a complete resume sample surgical technician should also list the clinical rotations completed by the applicant. While it is important to express a clear objective, it is also important for the applicant to let potential employers know that they are flexible and have experience in a wide range of areas. In such a competitive job market, it is important to be as versatile and marketable as possible.

Of course, all examples of surgical technician resumes should include work experience. Applicants should list previous jobs in order beginning with the most recent. This section of the resume should indicate the name of the employer, the dates employed there and the major responsibilities of the job. It is important to avoid any gaps in employment on the resume, but try to limit it to relevant experience, not every job since the applicant entered the workforce.

These are just the very basics of what should be included in a resume sample surgical technician. Applicants may also wish to include information such as awards and honors that they have received either while in school or in the workplace. Remember, anything that can make an applicant more marketable to an employer should be included on the resume. Modeling a surgical tech resume after a great example will enhance an applicant’s chances of landing the job they have been dreaming of.
